The company extensively restyled the 1966 Cadillac Coupe DeVilles. They have a powerful frontal appearance and a kind of forward-leaning front end. Redefined rear fenders and long, sculptured body lines.
For the third year, the "eggcrate" grille was flanked by dual stacked headlights. The grille insert had blades. They seemed to emphasize its vertical members. The manufacturer built the rectangular parking lamps into the outer edges of the grille. Cadillac highlighted the rear end styling revisions by metal divided tail lamps. Also added a painted lower bumper section. The cars also have a new roofline. Some say, inspired by the Florentine show car created for the 1964 New York World's Fair. The car has Tiffany style chrome signature scripts above the body side molding on the rear fenders.
New standard features included electric clock, Automatic Climate Controls, non-glare rear-view mirror, a padded dashboard. Also a Hazard Warning system and outboard seatbelt retractors.
A safety front seat back lock for two-door models were additional advances for 1967. Technical improvements included engine optimizations and re-tuned body mounts.
