This 1957 Chevrolet Nomad shows the classic two door styling. Unfortunately years being exposed in the open have destroyed the sheet metal. More a basketcase than a car, it is only waiting for the crusher. Sad.
History
The two-door Nomad differed from other station wagons in the 1950's having unique styling that is a bit different from standard station wagons. As before, Chevrolet again shared this body with the Pontiac. That company named their cars 'Pontiac Safari', however. Nomads were very popular and still are. They are easy to work on, are apealing for the eye and are dependable transportation.
The Nomad's design had its roots in a GM's Motorama show car of the same name. Other show cars were the Pontiac Bonneville Special and the Oldsmobile F-88. These Concepts were introduced at the famous GM Motorama in 1954. Main creator was Harley Earl [1893-1969], head stylist at GM.
The original color on this car is probably 'Sierra Gold' (paint code 805).
