GM/Oldsmobile sold the 1963 Oldsmobile 88 Convertible (known as 'Eighty-Eight') as a full-size automobile. The company produced the '88' line 1949 until 1999. From 1950 to 1974 the 88 was the division's top-selling line.
The 88 series were comparably light weight and used an advanced overhead-valve high-compression V8 engine.
History
The 1963 Oldsmobile 88 convertible is a full-sized car, Oldsmobiles continued with the 1962 body. It was wider and featured creased sharp angles which were a bit similar to the new Pontiac Grand Prix. 1963 also introduced a straight angled windshield "A" pillar on all full-size cars. Models and drivetrains were not changed from 1962. New options that year included an AM/FM radio, cruise control etc.

Very original car with 29,067 original miles 1963 Oldsmobile 88 Convertible. The original owner passed away and the current owner bought the car from his widow. That husband didn't drive much, so it highly likely that the mileage is original!
Checking the break pedal one can see almost no wear! Dash pad is very clean, unmolested, no cracks. The interior is in very good shape and shows the brownish, original stylish touch. Steering wheels is in good shape, too.
The Olds needs a paint job. Likely the paint we see on thew photos is original, too.
Rare original options include: Power windows, power top, power steering, power brakes. Also a a factory higher end radio with rear speakers. Car is equipped with the performance motor 394 with factory installed 'ultra high compression pistons'. Belts installed.
This is the high end 4- barrel version. Most cars came with two barrels and lower compression feature.
Motor runs and probably doesn't need any attention. Engine oil changed, spark plugs changed and new heater hose. Starting the engine shows no issues at all.
Has been stored inside for a long time. Trim is great shape, also around the windshield and doors. Grille is great, good headlight trim and original T3 headlights. Sun visors great, too.
Convertible Trim and Latches are Nice...
The bottom of the doors are good and power windows work.
Minor rust in the lower quarter panels that has to be fixed.
