The Oldsmobile 88 is a full-size automobile, sold and produced from 1949 until 1999. From 1950 to 1974 the 88 was Olds' top-selling line. The entry-level models were the 88's. They were also image leaders for the company in the early years (1949–51). Back then they were the best performing cars because of the smaller size, light weight and high-compression V8 'Rocket' engine. Originally designed for the larger 98 series it finally replaced the straight-8 motors on the smaller B-bodied 78.

History

In 1952, the basic Olds 88 shared the Super 88's rear body panels. It also got a 145 hp 303 cu in Rocket V8 with two-barrel carburetor while Super 88s got a more powerful 160 hp 303 with a new four-barrel carburetor. Other mechanical features were unchanged. Styling changes were amounting of a new grille, new taillights and minor interior revisions.

This 1952 Oldsmobile 88 Super has a matching 303 4bbl V-8 engine and a Hydramatic transmission. Car was promoted with the slogan 'Have a Date with an Eighty-Eight!'. In 1949 Oldsmobile basically started the 'Muscle Car Era' with the introduction of the 'Rocket' engine. Mileage on the odometer reads 59,124 and seems to be original. Has always been stored in a heated garage ans shows it. The famouse 303 Rocket V8 runs great. Hydramatic transmission shifts like new.

The car's body lines are straight. The doors of the car and the hood open and close like new. The chrome parts are all original and in beautiful condition. Also the stainless is in great shape. Same is true for the glass: No cracks or blurry areas. Car had one professional repaint and is show quality. The underside and frame of the car is in great shape, no rust whatsoever. All lights and turn signals work as they should. Most parts are in stock condition - from the factory. Only the clock is in the trunk. There is no radio, but it is easy to buy them on eBay. Rebuilds are also affordable.
