A wonderful 1958 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday. Enthusiasts know this year models, because Oldsmobile added a massive "Chrome-Look" in 1958: Styling lead to a tremendous amount of chrome trim on the body. Particularly the manufacturer loaded the higher-priced Super 88 and Ninety-Eight models with lots of chrome. The styling was advertised as the "Mobile Look."

American car designs featured new high-scolloped tail fenders in 1958. A full-length "dollar grin" radiator grilles. Low, wide body lines. General Motors spent over $730 million dollars to revamp its production.

History

Oldsmobile had introduced the '88' line in 1949. It named it to complement the already-existing 76 and 98.
In 1958, Oldsmobile built a four-barrel 300 hp version of the engine in their Super 88 models. A J-2 option used three two-barrel carburetors and produced 310 hp. (Like this featured car.)
Olds highlighted a revised instrument panel by a new deep-dish steering wheel with "horn bars". It replaced the long-standing horn ring still common during that period.

This is a very rare original 1958 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday 4 door hardtop. The car is equpped with the rare J-2 option (3 2bl carburetors). Olds didn't make many of these. Not many left. Has low miles and runs and drives
very well. Original traffic light prism and original sun visor.

Also the original dealer invoice and spare tire. Optional Hydromatic automatic 4 speed transmission. Matching numbers drive train. A very solid car with factory radio and clock. Has original power steering and power brakes.
